  Umbrella organisation
DELS, (The committee for collaboration between literary societies in Sweden) is an umbrella organisaion. Today some 110 societies are members in DELS, representing about 40.000 heads.









                    The aims of DELS
According to the statutes the purpose of DELS is "to gather active literary societies in Sweden, to stimulate and to spread the knowledge about the literary societies and to coordinate the activities to the extent it is of common interest."

The only source for financing the activities in DELS is through annual subscription fees from the member societies. DELS has no employed salaried people. The organisation is solely run voluntarily.









How does DELS work
DELS activities are
  • to arrange workshops and meetings for information, discussions, lectures and social activities,
  • to coordinate the societies participation in projects and programs, both internal och public, which are of common interest,
  • as a stakeholder deliver consulting remarks within DELS´ area of interest and
  • publish journals, books and other publications of common interest for the literary societies.

Conference facilities
DELS has made an arrangement, by which we can have disposal of premises in a very beautiful little house, Lilla Hornsberg, in western part of Stockholm. There we can keep our archive, a small library and arrange meetings for max. 40 persons. The member societies are also welcome to use these facilities at a reduced price.








Parnass
DELS has a magazine, PARNASS, which is published with four numbers yearly. Every number contains a theme where an author or a group of authors and their works is presented and commented on. The magazine also has articles about different literary topics and actual information about the activities in the literary societies.

DELS´ web site www.dels.nu is an important tool for information to the public as well as to and between the member societies.  Here you can find facts about DELS organisation, its history, statutes, board of directors etc. and news about coming events. You have also access to a list of all member societies with a link to their own web site if they have one.
